Meet our team

When you shop locally and support small businesses, you support a young family like ours.

Anita, Pastry Chef.

Since 2011 Anita has dedicated her life to food, baking and pastry. As a Red Seal Certified Pastry Chef you can feel confident to share her baked goods with those you love most. Anita’s dream of bringing real homemade baking to Port Colborne in the professional sector was realized in 2015 when LDV Bakery was born.

After having her basement kitchen health inspected, Anita began selling breads and pies at the Welland Farmers Market. Offering fresh baked panini buns, baguettes, French bread, white sandwich loaves, pies loaded with local Niagara fruit and an assortment of squares and cookies; Anita baked from scratch all day and night on Fridays and sold to the public on Saturday mornings, sharing her story and love of food with the market goers of Welland and surrounding areas.

As positive feedback and the great word of mouth started spreading around, Anita quickly picked up a few commercial clients supplying made from scratch breads and sweets to local restaurants in Port Colborne, Stevensville and Welland. Not long after her first year in business, she quickly outgrew her small home kitchen and decided to open a retail space and commercial kitchen in Port Colborne. July 28th, 2016 La Dolce Vita Bakery opened its retail space to the public officially!

Anita was born and raised Italian, where strong family values and a love of good food runs deep.

“Food, and taste are linked to positive memories. I wanted to offer real, made from scratch baked goods that make you stop and remember those moments - enjoying fresh baked cookies with Grandma, or smelling that fresh bread like mom used to make. Remembering the occasions made special with those you love, and the traditions built around the food you shared. Taking a bite out of our food feels like coming home; warm, comforting and familiar.”

Troy, Bread Guru, and Sourdough Aficionado.

Troy is a Red Seal Certified Automotive Technician, turned bread enthusiast. When Anita opened the retail bakery in 2016 it quickly became too busy for her and the small team so Troy quit his job to focus on their small business. He quickly fell in love with the process of making bread and began learning new techniques and creating new recipes to offer a larger product line to their customers. In 2017 he experimented with sourdough and created his first starter which is still alive and being used in the bakery today. Over the years he has expanded the LDV Bakery sourdough line from the original country loaf to include their multigrain, black olive, and walnut sourdough loaves, as well as the new light rye bread introduced in 2024.

“I consider myself lucky to do what I do. Working with my hands has always been a passion of mine, and being able to take basic ingredients and turn them into something beautiful has been so fulfilling. The fact that I get to work with my wife everyday to build our small business is a joy. I thank our customers for choosing LDV, because when you shop locally and support small businesses, you support a young family like ours.”
